Notes from Guests

Ocean Dream’s first incarnation was a smaller cottage just down the shore from our new home. These notes are from our guest book for last season and prior years.

Our Home

“From the minute we opened the door of the cottage it felt just like home. We had a fantastic month with many great memories. We felt we had a little piece of heaven; between the ocean, sunsets and the cottage it is very hard to leave. Being our first time on PEI this holiday will always hold special memories!!”
“What a Perfect hideaway. This is a beautiful summer home, well-equipped, clean, comfortable, with views that are absolutely breathtaking and a beach that is spectacular. Thank you for sharing.”
“The cottage is very nice with all the comforts of home. Loved the antique furniture and some of the artwork. The week went too fast . The view is beautiful and the sound of the ocean is very soothing to sleep to. It was all we hoped for.”
“We have enjoyed the cottage and its location- very quiet/private”
“The peaceful breeze from the water ... will remain in our memory throughout a long Michigan winter.”
“The view from the veranda is breathtaking. Who would believe that we would have so much beauty and yet be so private.”
“Thank you Daynee and Ed for sharing your home with us. We had a fantastic vacation. Your cottage is in a great location with beautiful beaches & vistas.”
“The weather was lovely and temperate. Our favorite moments were the ocean, the ocean and the ocean! Ed and Daynee, Thanks so much for sharing your piece of paradise with us. We really enjoyed ourselves and found the accommodations and surroundings perfectly comfortable and serene. ”

And For a Kid's Opinion

“There is a lot of space for fun and if there is bad weather; it is still fun! It is an amazing place all around! ”
“It was lots of fun! Basin head was awesome! ”

What We Did

“...the beach, beach, beach! We went golfing; deep-sea fishing and horse back riding. We watched the stars, super sunsets and sun rises. We also watched the incredible storms and waves and best of all the different "moods" of the ocean.”
“Became lobsters- red from sun and wind and eating them almost daily & often more”
“Hiked the dunes at Greenwich-played in the sand- the boys learned to body surf- deep sea fishing, caught a mackrel”
“We spent two nights on the beach enjoying a campfire, roasting marshmallows”
“Basin Head, lots of fun for kids- Greenwich Park, great walking trails and beach- Amusement Parks at Cavendish, great for kids- shopping at craft shops, great for parents- Old Charlottetown, nice to see”
“Golf, ate Lobsters and Scallops, got up early and walked the beach, watched sunsets over the sea, visited lighthouses, Green Gables, went horseback riding,”

Favorite Moments

“Our favorite moments were the lazy days, the group going to the beach, roasting marshmallows, and eating fish we caught. We enjoyed the sunsets, listening to the ocean, especially during storms and losing power to eat by candlelight. ”
“watching sun rises/sunsets/fabulous awe inspiring northern lights. We’re amazed that you would share your Ocean Dream with others”
“the ceilidh [a dance] at Monticello Log Hall [just around the corner]. It’s very rustic but great fun and the people couldn’t be more friendly.”
“On our first morning I awoke early to see a family of foxes cavorting around the garden. The cottage is great with everything we could require. It is hard to find the motivation to leave and tour other parts of the island.”
“Riding a horse for the first time (our child’s dream)- kyaking across the bay and around the point (we saw several seals close up!!). Most of all we enjoyed the experience of exploring a fabulous island and staying at a beautiful cottage”
“The ocean every day, all day!”
